Our Tile Care and Maintenance Tips

We’ve assembled some general recommendations below for keeping your tile looking like new.

Always consult the maintenance and care information provided by your tile manufacturer for more specific guidelines that pertain directly to your flooring.

Tile Stains and Spills

When you have a spill on your tile, simply wipe it away with a clean, dry cloth. But, make sure your tile is dry afterward, as ceramic and porcelain tile can be extremely slippery when wet!

If you need to use any cleaning products, make sure they are manufacturer-approved and are compatible with grout.

Preventative Maintenance

Use protective mats in entryways and pads under furniture legs.

Regularly, sweep your floor to remove dirt and grit. Damp-mop once a week (or more often for heavy traffic areas) using a special cleaner we can recommend.

Make sure the cleanser you use is a neutral pH compatible with grout cleaning. Never use detergent or soap, which can dull the surface or promote mildew growth. Cleaners should never contain acids, vinegar, chlorines, or ammonia, as these chemicals can damage and discolor both the grout and the stone or tile.
