Our Laminate Care and Maintenance Tips

We’ve assembled some general recommendations below for keeping your laminate looking like new.

Always consult the maintenance and care information provided by your laminate manufacturer for more specific guidelines that pertain directly to your flooring.

Laminate Stains and Spills

Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. Never allow liquids to stand on your laminate flooring, as they can be slippery.

For tough spots, such as oil, paint, markers, lipstick, ink, or tar, use acetone/nail polish remover on a clean white cloth, then wipe the area with a damp cloth to remove any remaining residue.

Don't use steel wool, abrasive cleaners, or strong ammoniated or chlorinated type cleaners.

Preventative Maintenance

For preventative care, it's a good idea to place doormats at all entrances to keep dirt from being tracked across your new laminate.

Use floor protectors and wide-load-bearing leg bases/rollers to minimize indentations and scratches from heavy objects.

Laminate floors are built for busy lifestyles and active families. Many products include waterproof finishes and wear-resistant surfaces to make care easy. But no matter how easy, a regular cleaning routine is necessary!

Sweep, dust, or vacuum the floor regularly with the hard floor attachment (not the beater bar) to prevent the accumulation of dirt and grit that can scratch or dull the floor finish.

Periodically clean the floor with cleaning products made specifically for laminate floor care.
